The black cat

The album of the week (by Lado Jakša):

New instrumental album of music group Valhala in a very brave musican and production work in this time when all pop-rock activities on our place based on stereotypes and dictation of the majority. This album also presents the progress with comparison to the first work. The musicans of Valhala (Jodl Gazvoda, guitar, Ivo Golmajer, drums, Damijan Košir, bass and Uroš Rakovec, guitar)  allow theirselves more creative space for »live playing«, for finest sound shades that bring soft and subtil rhytms and features of ambiental music between solid rock and jazz base forms. We also hear classic structures and simpatic humour elements of others music styles. Some pretentious jazz parts show higher music ambitions. In every composition exist many leyers.
An instrumental album like this is great exception in that kind of music in this place but their performs show that audience want to listen that kind of music no matter if such compositions need concentracion and need to be listen more carefully. Softness and music colours of Valhala show ambitions of four musicians: to progress music elements out of rock-sound modus.
The Black Cat is mature album. It is »not commercial« music but audience shows that Valhala deserves all attention and stimulation that the band can get. (Published Gallus Carniollus, Studio Rakovec, 1997-98).
